Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for the town she grew up in. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a self-described Jewish has a connection to Ryder's Jewish father. She has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sibling is Uria. Ryder and her family relocated to Mendocino, California, when Ryder was only seven years old. There were no electric lights. Ryder was a consummate reader and spent her time studying books since there was no television. Ryder started taking classes in acting in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 12 years old. Lucas was dismissed in the year 1986.
