Selena

She is a performer, designer and a music pioneer. She was at once an American-Mexican traditional star who bound together both worlds in a singular way--and provided excellent Tejano music to the mainstream audience. Like many times when an incredibly bright and genial star passes away way too soon in life, her sudden death shattered the growing popularity of her. Many mourned all of her unrealized potential. The result is that fans were inspired throughout the years to dig in and work harder to ensure that her achievements are not forgotten. Her tragic death in a shooting provoked a reaction from the Latino Community similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. The music of Selena, a singer who was hugely popular in Latino Communities throughout North America touched people young as well as old. Selena, a sexy and flamboyant stage performer who often referred to as Latina Madonna, was also modeling offstage. Selena participated in anti-drug initiatives.
